August, 2015

On behalf of the entire Wilbur Charter community, I’d like to welcome new and returning families to the 2015-16 academic year! Whether you are new to our school or are returning, we are excited to have you and your child or children as part of our "school family." Our faculty and support staff are excited and looking forward to a great year filled with rich learning experiences for your child or children. Our focus is on providing every child with academic experiences that will result in a rewarding school year. We all benefit most when parents and community members are involved. Please support your child’s education by reviewing homework, communicating with teachers and staff, ensuring your child is at school every day and showing interest in what happens in the classroom.

As I begin my sixth  year at Wilbur, the efforts of all of our faculty, staff, and parents continue to help move our students towards greater academic achievement. Our efforts toward greater student achievement are undaunted even with budget constraints, and our entire staff has an unwavering commitment to student excellence.   As stated in our charter petition, the primary goal of Wilbur Charter for Enriched Academics is to provide every child with a learning experience and innovative instructional program that meets the needs of their academic, cognitive, social and physical development.  I'm proud to acknowledge the hard work of our faculty, staff, parents and students, which resulted in excellent scores for our last two years as an affiliated charter school. For a look at our charter oversight report, for 2014-15, go to our home page ,click on the "charter" tab, then click on "oversight report."

The teaching faculty and I will continue to work diligently with parents to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community characterized by academic excellence, respect, community involvement, and excellent communications between the school, home, and teaching faculty.  I am committed to working in collaboration with all of you to implement my vision of making Wilbur Charter for Enriched Academics the best school in the Los Angeles Unified School District!

As we start the school year, please remember that this is your school and we welcome your involvement, and are here to help. The faculty, staff and I are committed to providing your children with the best education possible. Although I do have an open door policy and welcome parents at any time, please note that my first priority is to the students, faculty, and staff during the school day. For this reason, if you need to speak to me, the best time is after 2:30 PM, and or send me an e-mail at

We begin our year with a renewed dedication to make Wilbur Charter for Enriched Academics the kind of school where every child achieves success!
